WHAT IS AN OMBUDSMAN?
- Monday, January 22
- 2:30 – 4 pm
- Dave Christianson, Regional Long-Term Care Ombudsman, Presenter
If you are receiving home care or live in a nursing home or assisted living facility, you have seen this word printed all over the place. The Long Term Care Ombudsmen program is an independent government agency that provides advocacy for patients on a very wide range of issues. An ombudsman provides support to patients when adult children are overstepping boundaries or when professional care is sub-standard. They lobby for change in legislation at the state and federal level. Dave will provide real-life examples of the work done in his office in this “give and take” presentation. Questions are welcomed! Not comfortable sharing in a group situation? Dave will be available afterwards for individual questions.
