The Summer Solstice is the day when the Earth’s poles have their maximum tilt toward the sun and the longest period of sunlight. Most cultures also recognize the event with holidays, festivals or rituals, usually with themes of religion or fertility. Dave will concentrate on the astronomical aspects of the holiday.
