Volunteer Opportunities

Sharing time as a VINE volunteer is fun and rewarding for individuals and families. Volunteers first complete an application form, provide personal references, and agree to other necessary background checks. VINE provides job descriptions, orientation sessions, and insurance for all volunteers (personal injury, personal liability, and excess auto liability).

Friendly Visitor

Volunteers schedule the visits at a convenient time. Just an hour every other week can make a world of difference in the life of a person without many social contacts.

Volunteer Driver

Both local and out of town driving opportunities are available. Volunteers may choose how often they wish to drive. Mileage reimbursement is offered to volunteer drivers.

Respite Volunteer

Provide a family caregiver with needed time away from their responsibilities. This non-medical service, which requires just a two hour commitment on your part, can make a huge difference to a caregiver.

Nursing Home Transition Support Team

Work together with other caring volunteers to help older friends return home from a short stay at a local care center. Prepare meals, do light housework, and make telephone reassurance calls.

Handy Person

Skilled and semi-skilled volunteers help with minor home repairs and chores for older homeowners, working individually or in the camaraderie of VINE’s Chore Team for special projects such as wheelchair ramp construction or home modifications.

Lawn Care Helper/Snow Shoveler

This can be a great opportunity for needed exercise, lasting friendships, and might teach the whole family about the rewards of helping others. One time opportunities are also available.

Office Assistance

Help us with general office duties and mailings. Volunteers with good computer skills are needed to assist with special tasks. Time commitment varies and can often be arranged to accommodate busy schedules.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Everyday, VINE’s staff meets with older friends and neighbors, who are facing serious illnesses and personal losses of many kinds, and we like to share with them the gift of a hand made prayer shawl to reassure them they are not alone. Volunteers can knit or crochet a prayer shawl; there is no right or wrong way to create these gifts of love. They are simple to make, do not have to look alike, or be the same color, or exact size. VINE can provide you with instructions for knitting or crocheting.

Hospitality Volunteers

Provide hospitality to those who attend meetings and classes at VINE. Bake treats and help us to welcome our guests. Time commitment varies and can often be arranged to accommodate busy schedules.

Special Event Volunteers

Help us plan and carry out important fundraisers and events.
