VINE Faith in Action was established in February 1995, as an interfaith volunteer caregiving organization serving older adults, people with disabilities, and individuals and families encountering difficult life situations. VINE is a network of faith congregations, organizations, and individuals providing volunteer assistance in the Minnesota River Valley of South Central Minnesota.
VINE’s funding comes from many sources including individual, business, and congregational donations and the Greater Mankato Area United Way. The organization receives both public and private grants that support its work.
Over the years, staff and programs have been added allowing VINE to assist family caregivers, provide chore assistance to older homeowners, help people transition from hospitals and nursing homes, and offer peer counseling. Throughout its growth, VINE has remained true to its mission to promote quality of life and a culture of caring, sustained by volunteerism, community engagement and support for neighbors in need. Although a faith-based organization, religious proselytizing is never allowed. Faith is shared through loving service. The organization remains faithful to care receivers for as long as needed, often until the end of their lives.
